Summary

PORTAL is a 24 months project addressing the intricate challenges faced by Olympians during their transition to post-retirement life. The project’s core objective is to develop and implement an inclusive and diverse online platform focused on supporting Olympians during their transition to post-retirement life, with a particular emphasis on social inclusion and outreach to individuals facing fewer opportunities, like Olympians without any medals won, with physical and mental health issues, lacking of financial support, employment opportunities, education background or early school-leavers. This is complemented by a network of Real Life Transition Officers, to provide comprehensive support to Olympians, particularly those facing fewer opportunities.

PORTAL introduces several innovative not only dual-career supports but also mental health, societal engagement, and life skills development.

Recognising the importance of technology, PORTAL integrates IT tools into its approach while ensuring a balance with face-to-face support. This mix allows for flexibility, accessibility, and real-time monitoring, aligning with contemporary trends and EU guidelines.

Objectives

SO.1: Update on the state of the art of the Olympians’ challenges by conducting a research and need analysis study in the countries of the Consortium, respectively France, Romania, Croatia, North Macedonia and Italy.

To define the role & responsibilities of the Real Life Transition Officers

To design an Open Platform for athletes to find resources, opportunities, and match with other athletes to ease their transition.

To elaborate the toolkit or procedures of the Real Life Transition Officers.
